Work day at Carter County Isaiah 117 House
Our Four Pianos in Praise concert was scheduled to premiere on March 14, 2020 but was cancelled two days before opening night due to Covid. We were thrilled to finally reschedule and perform the concert–26 months later– on May 14, 2022, when it was safe to reopen our stages. This long-awaited concert benefited Isaiah 117 House, a children’s charity that provides a safe and loving home environment for children taken into protective custody while they await placement with a foster family.
On Saturday, January 18, 2020, performers in the Four Pianos concert and several other eager Mila Vox volunteers worked with Isaiah 117 House to improve conditions at Isaiah 117’s house in Carter County, Tennessee. We cleared lawn debris, organized storage in an outdoor shed, sorted and organized donated clothing, and even fixed a broken sump pump!
Thanks to the efforts of this gracious group of volunteers and especially to Isaiah 117 House, this Carter County home is now in even better shape to love kids when they need it most.
Thank you to our volunteers!
Musical Theatre class for Coaltion for Kids
In conjunction with our Some Enchanted Evening Viennese Ball, Mila Vox provided a spring semester musical theatre experience for Coalition kids. As a reward for outstanding citizenship and exemplary effort, kids were chosen by Coalition Site Directors to participate. Mila Vox staff worked with the children weekly, teaching valuable life lessons through music, choreography, stage craft, teamwork and problem solving. Much to the delight of gala guests, the group performed ‘Song Long Farewell’ from the Sound of Music with a professional orchestra at the ball. This activity empowered Coalition kids to participate in giving back to their own community—helping raise funds for much needed transportation upgrades to keep kids safely rolling to life-changing after school programming. Kids helping kids! A beautiful thing!
