Our name
Mila Vox means “one thousand voices.” Sort of. It’s not really Latin, and it’s not really Italian. Mila means “thousand” in Italian, but Italian for “voices” is voci. Vox is Latin for “voice” (“voices” is voces), and “thousand” in Latin is milia. But we just liked the way Mila Vox hangs together better than any of the more “correct” combinations.
The one thousand voices referred initially to the choir section of the Sagrada Familia church in Barcelona, which was built to seat 1000 singers. It was here that the inspiration for Mila Vox first came to Annemarie.
These days Mila Vox includes the voices of children who need the world to hear them. It includes the talented performers who help give voice to those children. And by attending a Mila Vox performance, or becoming a donor, or by volunteering your help in lots of different ways, you can add your voice to the thousand(s), too. Won’t you come “sing” with us?
Mila Vox, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization registered in Tenessee. We are listed in the Guidestar registry of nonprofits and we are working toward achieving Guidestar’s Gold Medal for transparency.
