What if Jesus were born in rural Georgia? This rollicking bluegrass musical is sometimes touching and sometimes humorous – as spirited as it is Spirit-filled. Based on Clarence Jordan’s Cotton Patch Gospel, the show was born in 1981 as a highly-acclaimed Broadway musical under the collaboration of Tom Key and Harry Chapin (Cat’s in the Cradle, Taxi…).
"Cotton Patch Gospel is special. It is a rare dramatic presentation that succeeds in both entertaining us and sharing fresh insight into the Gospel, the greatest story ever told."
Tom Key popularized a version in which one actor (Key) performed all of the spoken parts. We are working to secure the participation of a current celebrity to reprise this solo performance, accompanied by a live bluegrass band. We plan to take the show on tour in places like Knoxville, Charlotte, and Atlanta.
